DeafHear.ie Loop Systems

What is a Loop System?
A loop system assists deaf people who use a hearing aid or loop listener to hear sounds more clearly by reducing or cutting out background noise. At home, for example, you could use a loop to pick up sound from your television, hi-fi or radio. A loop can also be set up with a microphone to help hearing aid users hear conversations in noisy places. In the theatre, a loop can help you hear the show more clearly.

How induction loop systems work
An induction loop is a cable that circles the listening area. It is fed by a current from a loop amplifier. The amplifier gets its signal from a microphone placed in front of the person speaking or from a direct connection with another sound source, such as a sound system. The resulting electric current in the loop produces a magnetic field, which corresponds to the sound. You can then pick up this magnetic field if you are sitting within the area of the loop and your hearing aid - or loop listening aid - is switched to the T-setting. You will need to adjust your own hearing aid for volume.

Conference Folder
The conference folder allows hearing aid users to participate in meetings, presentations and small groups. With its discreet design this leather-bound conference folder is a non-obstructive way in which hearing aid users can participate in meetings, presentations and small groups. The conference folder has a totally self-contained audio frequency in-built induction loop system. The amplifier is positioned inside the folder, which also contains a small pocket to house the batteries and a Neck Loop. Also included in the folder are two microphones that relay the signal to the amplifier and a small volume control that can be adjusted by the user to the required level. Once the meeting is over, the conference folder reverts back into a standard folder and can be stored in any standard briefcase.
