Deaftech - Assistive Technology Service
Deaf and hard of hearing people rely heavily on technology in their day-to-day lives. Simple activities such as answering the door, using an alarm clock, watching television or making a phone call requires quite complex adaptive technology - the lack of which can leave people isolated and erode independence. Without adapted smoke alarms and other such alerting devices safety may be compromised.

Each DeafHear.ie Resource Centre provides a Deaftech Assistive Technology Service. Information is provided on non-medical assistive equipment for deaf and hard of hearing people for use in their daily lives at home, at work and in the educational environment.

The Deaftech service provides technical advice, an opportunity to test a variety of equipment and offers a range of information factsheets on deafness.
