I’m Deaf…but Mammy doesn’t know yet!

"It’s not too late to help me, but I need my hearing screened now!"

I’m Zoe. I’m 6 days old and I’m deaf. My Mammy and Daddy won’t know until I’m 2½ years old and by then I will have delayed language development that will cause me difficulties all of my life. You see, in the first few years of life your brain sets up all kinds of connections called “neurological” pathways. Mine won’t develop very well and by the time they find out I’m deaf the damage will already be done. So I will be behind my friends from the start...
