Communication Support Worker

Main purpose of post:
To provide support to a young deaf woman (Irish Sign Language User) in Kilkenny.
Key Tasks;
- To provide communication support to a high standard of practice.
- To ensure the rights of the service-user are respected.
- To provide interpretation support to the service user in preparing written reports for reviews, case conferences, workshops etc.
- To attend Case Conferences, meetings, etc. as required.
- To maintain written records of all work undertaken with the service user.
- To follow all relevant statutory policy and agency codes of practice and procedural guideline requirements.
- To maintain regular contact with the Director of Services or designate.
- To observe and practise Deafhear.ie’s Confidentiality Policy.
- To advise the Director of Services or designate of any issues which might impede the provision of an effective service.
- Any other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Director of Services or the Chief Executive

Specific Details of post:
- Fixed Purpose Contract for 7 hours (2 days x 2.5 hours, 1 day x 2 hours) per week.
- Rate of pay is €18 per hours
- Flexibility required
- Excellent Irish Sign Language skills are required.
- Excellent Oral (English) Communication Skills are essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to work flexibly and on own initiative is essential.
