Sign language interpreted, audio described and captioned performances are now available for shows at the Abbey.
(Sign language performances are also available at the Peacock). |
 |
Audio-description provides visually impaired and blind audiences with a live commentary of the visual elements in a performance through individual headsets. Patrons also receive detailed programme notes in advance in Braille, audio or large-print.
Captioning is similar to television subtitling and gives deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people access to live performance.
Tickets for audio described and captioned performances must be booked through Box Office. These services are provided by Arts & Disability Ireland, with funding from the Arts Council. |
 |
Hard of hearing or visually impaired visitors have access to an infrared loop system at the Abbey. Units are available from Box Office and should be requested when booking. Customers who are deaf or have hearing impairments can book by fax on +353 1 879 7390 marked for the attention of Box Office. |
