European Award for Languages 2009

The European Award for Languages - the Language Label is an annual award given to projects where participants have found creative and inventive ways to improve the quality of language teaching, motivate students, and make the best of available resources. The Award, which is coordinated by the European Commission, is managed in Ireland by Léargas.

Schools, colleges, universities, businesses and other institutions engaged in language initiatives are invited to apply. Applications should be innovative, effective and replicable.

EAL 2009The priorities for 2009 are:

  • Languages for Intercultural Dialogue
  • Languages and Business
  • Language Learning and Technology

These priorities are not exclusive and applications from all kinds of language projects will be welcome.

There will also be an individual European Award for Languages in 2009 for the Language Learner of the Year. This will be awarded to a person in the formal or non-formal sector, where language learning has enabled the learner to achieve further goals and objectives.
