DeafHear.ie is a voluntary, non-profit organisation and is a registered charity under company law.
DeafHear.ie (formerly the National Association for Deaf People) was established on 5th June 1964 with the primary objective of “promoting the welfare of deaf people and their families in
all aspects of life”. After 40 years, this aspiration continues to be the core objective that drives the excellent services DeafHear.ie provides nationally.
DeafHear.ie has a national network of resource centres providing a range of accessible services to deaf and hard of hearing people and their families and is also actively involved in advocating
and lobbying for improved services and new developments including UNHS (Universal Newborn Hearing Screening), aural rehabilitation and education.
Our vision is of an inclusive society where deaf and hard of hearing people are fully integrated, with equality of opportunity and participation. It is our role to make this vision a reality by promoting the equal rights of deaf and hard of hearing people and enhancing their life
opportunities.
