Community Services

DeafHear

DeafHear Community Services focus on providing access to everyday community life and experiences for deaf and hard of hearing people. Due to the many barriers faced on a day-to-day basis by deaf and hard of hearing people, the range of community initiatives involve considerable creativity and innovation on behalf of DeafHear staff.

Core Community Services include:

  • Assistive Technology Service

  • Family and Group Activities

  • Communication Support

  • Advocacy and Support re training, job seeking, rights and entitlements etc.

There are also many examples of innovative and creative local community initiatives to address particular needs. Examples include:

  • Newborn Hearing Screening service available in Dublin

  • Access to CareDoc out of hours GP service in the South East

  • Residential Weekend for Parents of newly diagnosed children

  • Day Care Centre for older deaf persons
