DeafHear Hearing Care ProgrammeWhen a person loses their hearing, it can have a major impact on their life. The first signs are usually that a person finds it difficult to follow conversations, especially in groups or where there is background noise.

Research has shown that many people do not seek support for their hearing loss for up to ten years. Taking action early is strongly advised. For many people, modern digital hearing aids solve most of the difficulties associated with acquired hearing loss and enable people to get on with their lives. However, when people delay taking action, this can make the adjustment and rehabilitation process more difficult.

For some people, particularly those with more severe levels of hearing loss, additional support may be beneficial. Having a better understanding of hearing loss, learning about coping strategies and lipreading skills can be helpful in supporting people to get the maximum benefit from their hearing aids and to learn effective ways to manage the impact of hearing loss on their lives.

DeafHear’s Hearing Care Programme is provided
free to anyone with an acquired hearing loss.
